Anti Slavery Statement

Introduction

TilzMart is a multi-channel retailer, offering a wide range of high-quality products across various departments at the most competitive prices. As we strive to make our customers happy, we are also committed to corporate social responsibility.

Modern slavery is not just a violation of fundamental human rights, but it is also a criminal offense. The practice takes various forms such as forced labour, human trafficking, servitude among others.  TilzMart has a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, and we remain committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings and ensuring that modern slavery is not taking place anywhere in our own business or in any of our supply chains.  We also believe in transparency, which is why in compliance with section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, we have published our annual statement for modern slavery and human trafficking. In this statement, we highlight policies that support our approach to the identification of modern slavery and human trafficking risks as well as steps taken to prevent it in our operations

Our modern slavery and human trafficking policies

  • TilzMart continues to commit to providing customers with goods that have been produced in decent and safe working conditions, lawfully, through fair and honest dealings and without exploiting the people who made them.
  • We understand that our biggest exposure to modern slavery is in our product supply chains. We will monitor potential risk areas in our supply chains on an ongoing basis and will continue to undertake due diligence to minimise this risk.
  • We encourage all our employees, customers and other business partners to report any concerns related to the direct activities, or the supply chains. This includes any circumstances that may give rise to an enhanced risk of slavery or human trafficking. This policy also provides all employees with the ability to anonymously report any violations of anti-slavery laws and regulations without fear of retaliation.
  • Our induction process consists of training and sensitisation on this policy and on the risks the business faces from modern slavery. More so, our zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery must be communicated to all suppliers, contractors and business partners at the outset of our business relationship with them and reinforced as appropriate thereafter
  • We conduct appropriate due diligence when considering taking on new suppliers and the review of our existing suppliers. We also make clear our expectations of business behaviour.

In order to assess the effectiveness of our modern slavery measures we will subsequently review our staff training levels as well as the number of slavery incidents reported in in our business dealings.

Awareness-raising programme

We raise awareness by circulating series of emails and providing frequent training on modern slavery to all our staff.

Breaches of this policy

If we discover a violation of our Anti-Slavery Policy, we will respond in a manner proportionate to the nature and extent of the violation. Any employee who breaches this policy will face disciplinary action, which could result in dismissal for misconduct or gross misconduct.  Any violation by a supplier or business partner may result in termination of the business relationship.
